Radio Cherwell saw some of its members, with over a combined total of 130 years of service between them rewarded with long service certificates at their recent AGM.

The national Hospital Broadcasters Associations president June Snowden presented the awards and said
I am proud to visit Radio Cherwell again and officially recognise the tremendous and ongoing commitment its members give to the patients of Oxfords hospitals. Long may it continue

Members who recieved awards were Doug Morris (10 years) - Graham Cook (20 years) - Dave Brown (30 years) - Paul Lucas (30 years) - Jason Townsend (10 years) - Nick Saunders (10 years) and Michael Clark (20 years).

The membership of Oxfords oldest radio station which first began broadcasting in 1967 is over 70 strong. Membership Secretary Kevin Crouch said
we have people from all walks of life as members, from those retired to students, professionals to police and medical staff to unemployed. It isnt just about presenting a programme there are other areas such as ward visiting IT maintenance and programme production that is open to our members. We welcome anyone wishing to become involved, but they must show firm commitment to our patients and not just come here to become Radio 1s next top jock!

Anyone interested in becoming a member of the station should contact Kevin on 01865 225522.

Radio Cherwells childrens programme the Weekend For Everything Show will be able to fully broadcast directly from the childrens wards following a 4000 pound donation from the Isis Foresters last week.
The donation will fund equipment that will enable programmes to be broadcasted directly from the wards allowing patients to become fully involved in the production and transmission of its childrens output. Prizes for the children are also being funded by the Foresters - Presenter Jason Townsend said this is a fantastic boost to our efforts in entertaining the kids, which now allows them to fully participate and hear themselves on the radio The equipment will also support other ward based programmes we broadcast that directly involve patients.
Chairman Neil Stockton stated we are extremely grateful to the Foresters who chose to support us and at the same time help make the time a child spends in hospital that little bit easier by helping us take their minds off why they are there in the first place
Radio Cherwells output can also be heard on their website at www.radiocherwell.com enabling relatives and friends to keep in touch by sending messages or requests to any patient in Oxfords hospitals by calling the studios on 01865 225522 or emailing studio@radiocherwell.com
A person becomes a Foresters member automatically when they take out a Forester Life product. Every Foresters member belongs to a local branch that is lead by member volunteers in their community. There are 73 branches in the UK and 325 in total worldwide. Members take part in family and community activities organised by their branch.

After a long battle with cancer, Colin Peach died in Sobel House Hospice on the 30th September 2007.

Colin Peach's famous poems are still available on a CD called A Few of My Favourite Things. It costs five pounds and is available from Roy Peach on 01865 726365 or by emailing fourpeaches@talktalk.netIt is also available from Radio Cherwell on 01865 225522 or by emailing Studio@radiocherwell.com

Colin Peach, of William Street in Marston, Oxford, decided he wanted to do something to help Radio Cherwell after listening to the station during stays in hospital.
Mr Peach, who was 55, used his poetry to raise money for charities in the past, with two books, which raised thousands of pounds for the NSPCC and the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
This time, the poet decided to create a CD. This has gave him the opportunity to introduce the poems himself and give a bit of background information about their origin.
The CD, called A Few of My Favourite Things, contains 30 tracks of varying lengths.
Mr Peach said: "I would call it contemporary poetry, about things that have happened, little events that have happened to me, or my friends, in life and I have recorded them in the form of poetry."
He added: "I absolutely loved recording it. Hopefully I can raise enough money for the volunteers at Radio Cherwell to continue to keep the radio station going for many years to come."
