'Ward Bingo' was first broadcast on Radio Cherwell in 1982 following a members' meeting which discussed an original idea from a kindred hospital radio station.

We include two bingo tickets with our 'Listening News' which is delivered weekly to as many patients as possible in Oxford's major hospitals.

The presenters in the studio check the numbers live on air. Prizes are awarded for winning tickets including a meal voucher for two people sponsored each week by The Tandem, Kennington.
After the programme, our presenters visit the winners in their wards to deliver the prizes and say hello in person. Throughout 'Ward Bingo' our listeners are encouraged to phone in for record requests or just chat live on air.
